ABOUT US

Fairview Volunteer Fire Department is located approximately 7 miles east of Asheville, NC and covers approximately 46 square miles. The Fairview VFD was established in 1959 and later chartered in 1961.

The first piece of apparatus was housed in the basement of an old rock store which still stands beside Fairview Elementary School.

We now operate out of two stations which house 4 engines, 1 tanker, 1 75ft. ladder truck, 1 heavy rescue truck, 1 all wheel drive rescue truck, 1 brush truck, 1 squad truck, 1 utility vehicle, 1 Polaris UTV and 1 QRV (quick response vehicle). The main station is located at 1586 Charlotte Highway. The substation is located at 799 Old Fort Road. The main station has been added on to twice since it was originally built with only 4 bay's. The main station has 16 bays and the substation has 4 bays.

We now have 21 career personnel who man the stations 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Most career personnel are certified Level two firefighters, Rescue Technician certified, Hazardous Materials operations certified and operate at the Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Level. Some of the volunteer and part-time personnel have these certifications. We also have volunteers who donate their time and are an asset to this community and the fire department. All members are currently lead by Chief Scott Jones.

In 2007, the Fairview Volunteer Fire Department responded to 1128 calls for assistance, which included fire, medical, and rescue. In the year 2008, we responded to 1046 calls for assistance.

We encourage anyone to stop by for a visit and tour the station.
